For those who have not followed my journey in Dragon Ball Fusion World early days, I am a big advocate of playing for free. Not only it represents a challenge to work with what I open, it also represents a way to be invested into a set for long, as I'm constantly chasing new cards or decks.
For sanity reason, make sure you have a couple of rich friends with all the cards, so you too, can test the hot new decks everyone is talking about.
So, how Free to play friendly is FB07 ? 8/10 !
Across the five colors, I would say Green is the hardest one to collect without spending money. Indeed, not only FB07-049 requires most cards from the new set to be played, FB07-121 is a fantastic card all Ramp based leaders are interested to run. On top of that, every leader except FB04-051 is running multiple copies of FB05-119. This would make FB04-051 the default pick for non-spenders, but the saiyan got great support during the Manga set in SB01-026 and SB01-025, that set we could not spend gems on.
Black poses a similar issue, since FB07-097 also requires most of FB07 to be played. Yet, there are some alternatives which do not require us to find multiple copies of a secret card in that color.

Yellow belongs to the Ginyu Force !
If you own cards from previous sets, FB01-105 and FB06-071 are available to play. The villain from Daima finally got its big card in FB07-083, and also got a couple of cheaper cards we can easily get using Wildcards.
Frieza's brother is even easier to assemble, since we are mostly interested in FB07-077. FB07-093 is an appealing prospect, but unless I would open it in packs, this isn't a card I feel obligated to spend Wildcards on in order to play the deck.
Yet, even if there are multiple options in the Yellow color, nothing beats FB01-104 and the new promo card FP-055 we are given for leveling the reward track. To build the entire deck, we only need FB01-109 amongst super rare cards.
Blue wants you to be competitive
Blue entered this set as a bottom tier competitor, alongside a fairly expensive color to run, since the Tournament of Power synergy required multiple super rare cards from the Manga Booster set, alongside a secret rare in FB06-119.
In FB07, a new archetype was introduced : Shadow Dragon. Typically, new synergies requiring you to collect most of the color's cards for their set are impossible to play for a free to play. Unless you are willing to spend all your Wildcards on that deck and play it for the entire expansion, it is a risk.
However, FB07-025 is a bit different, since it appears the competitive build of that deck only runs FB07-030 and FB07-035 as super rare cards, making the deck quite affordable.
At the moment, FB07-025 is a very competitive pick, so those with huge ambitions and an empty wallet have their pick for FB07.
Red has two options for you !
It never occurred to me since I mostly skipped the Manga set after it was all SB01-029, even in the Select mode, but SB01-001 is a very affordable deck. Yes, it presents the issue of needing cards from the Manga set, but we can get the deck with just one super rare card from there : SB01-004.
Then, for those looking to play something very competitive in this set, SB01-001 is your other option alongside FB07-025. I would say the blue leader will be easier to build since we can collect packs from FB07 for free, while SB01-001 requires some cards from FB06 as well, especially FB06-009. If you had that card from playing during FB06, you could be building the best red deck fairly easily.
There is another super rare from a previous expansion in FB04-012, a good investment considering it will also synergize with FB07-001. Yet, we could play this deck without it.
Considering we are collecting packs from the current set simply playing the game, FB07-001 is the other option to consider. However, FB04-012 is not something we can replace like the SB01-001 deck can. Plus, FB05-015 is another important piece, meaning we have some super rares to collect from other sets to run this deck at full strength.
At least, there are no secret cards required, we get FP-050 for free through the reward track, and we can collect super rare cards from packs.
FB05-006 is a card I would consider in this deck to act as a sort of finisher. It isn't included here to cut on the amount of super rares needed, but you could get one or two in the mix. Replace some of FB03-023 if you don't fear losing the board early on, or FB07-022 if you don't mind playing with a bit less combo.
Also, note that it is still unclear whether FB07-001 is the best leader to run this synergy, it is entirely possible FB05-001 or FS06-01 might be stronger although they don't synergize with evolve cards.
Black is left with one choice only
The new FB07-097 synergy is a lot of fun, but we need to collect most of FB07 cards, including one to three copies of FB07-122 to run that deck. For most of the others, such as FB03-104 who received a few support cards, we need to have collected four copies of FB03-140 in the past.
Even FB03-140, typically considered a pretty cheap leader to run, only posted results over the past two sets using the secret rare card. Yet, it could be the one most likely to live without FB03-140 if the new FB07-109 struck your interest.
By default, we are left with two choices : FB04-103 but that leader got nothing in FB07, or FS09-01 which we can build the entire deck for 2,000 gems, purchasing its constructed deck twice. From there, we simply add FB07-098 to the mix, and we have our touch of FB07.
If you have it, run a couple of FB06-097
We have a Green problem
Although FS03-10 remains a fantastic card after all this time, Green decks are starting to all gravitate towards secret rare cards as time passes. FB05-119 has become the staple finisher in all decks, granting them a way to counter-attack when at two life, while FB07-121 is slowly becoming the new default 8-cost in the color. Plus, a copy of FB06-120 is quite strong in most Ramp oriented builds.
With the cards from the manga booster, or eight super rare wildcards available, FB04-051 could be your pick if you were around early in the year for FB04. Otherwise, FS10-01 is a leader we could play without FB05-119 in the mix, spending 2,000 gems to grab two of his constructed decks. In both cases, we would have nothing from FB07 to run in our deck, while we already know these two could not compete during the previous set, even more so if we cut FB05-119 from the equation.
Following that logic, one might as well go for FB06-048 if they had the cards from FB06, since that leader got some support in this set in FB07-060 and FB07-069.
Otherwise, if you really wanted to play Green on a budget in FB07, the pick probably is to play a Ramp oriented deck, FS03-01 or FB01-071, as both got some new cards in FB07. In those, you can fit in the great cards you managed to collect along the way to enhance your deck.
Plus, there are some cheap synergies we can build our deck around. Don't expect your deck to be a powerhouse until you manage to get some Secret cards in the mix, but at least, you have a cheap green deck to play with FB07 cards.
