New Decklists
Red Cell Deck
FB06-001 failed to be anything good in FB06, but now that SB01-001 has arrived, it might because it was all a setup. Indeed, the new set focused almost entirely on bringing more Android cards, indicating FB06 was just part of the entire arsenal available for red leaders.
Now, we have access to more draw, ways to summon big card ahead of their natural curve, and even can hit the opponent with that extra 20,000 power FB06-001 only directed at battle cards. Simply put, FP-042 and FB06-009 are not alone anymore.
Will SB01-001 be good enough to see play then ? Probably, but I don't expect the leader to dominate. Indeed, the new red leader pushes for a slow midrange, value oriented play style. Definitely not as fast as the Daimakus, but a bit faster than FB03-001 nonetheless. Unfortunately, there is a lot of competition in that play style, and SB01-001 being more on the reactive side of things isn't ideal in my opinion.
Indeed, we have seen how difficult it is to defend properly with only 20,000 base defense. Then, the key for SB01-001 to thrive will be to turn the board around with FP-042, preparing the board for SB01-012 and FB04-129 to come in and shut the door.
Blue World Tournament Deck
The deck lacked a lot to compare to Satan City in FB06, but things are about to change. Indeed, with all the blue cards directed at helping this precise synergy, FB06-025 is widely regarded as the most likely blue leader to fight through the FB01-056 nerf.
We should figure it out pretty quickly. Indeed, just like Satan City, there aren't enough World Tournament cards to really doubt what to play in this deck. The only peculiar inclusion in my build is FS02-15, which I intend to use as a defensive mechanic first and foremost. Considering blue just lost its best defensive piece in FB01-056, we might have to be more cautious with our defenses, a shame our Leader ability only triggers during our turn. Plus, this deck aims to cheat out 3-cost for two energy with FB06-044, so I figured we will have some energy leftover on turn three, a turn we typically are not awakened yet.
SB01-017 might have a say in this, but if the card isn't reliable enough, it won't be much trouble to play FB06-041.
Yellow Majin Buu : Evil Deck
I am going to ruin the mood right away with this one : I believe all those great cards the new yellow leader just got will mostly help the existing FB04-077. This isn't a jab to the new leader, but once tournaments are around the corner, each color tends to keep only one contestant, unless there are different play styles available.
As cool as SB01-029 looks, the lists should be too close for both Buu leaders to coexist in a competitive environment, and my money is on FB04-077 to be the stronger one. SB01-029 will be strong enough to see play if you enjoy its ability though.
It's a shame, as the board lock pair of SB01-031 plus SB01-039 looks amazing, and perfectly fit for this leader. Yet, even if we have SB01-036 to replicate the multi attack scheme from FB04-077, it is probably easy to play the leader able to do every single turn, and run those cards alongside it.
Green Vegeta Deck
The green gang is not getting any new leader in this set, although FS10-01 could endorse that role. Yet, because the starter got most of the cards it needed in its own deck, SB01 could focus on bringing support to an old failed attempt : FB04-051.
With the new set, three cards are added to the mix:
- SB01-024 able to find basically any card in our deck
- SB01-026 so we can summon three 3-cost saiyan during the same turn if we use our leader ability as well
- SB01-023 giving the deck some ramp and a nice 10,000 combo to use.
Last, it feels important to mention FB05-119 was not in the game when FB04-051 released, and the most powerful finisher in the game might also be helpful.
Arguably, this new iteration of FB04-051 will have to beat FS10-01 to earn the role of aggressive green leader, a tough task. Yet, it is just great to see how a limited set, made of mostly reprint of existing cards, manages to bring an old unplayed leader back into everyone's mind.
Black Bulma Deck
I do not like SB01-045, at all. It only does one thing, which is awaken in time to use its ability with #SB01-059 to summon SB01-057. It is the only appealing synergy in a deck which otherwise feels extremely dull to play considering how many restrictions are attached to SB01-045.
The leader cannot attack, does not draw either, only works if all your cards have the Adventure trait. I mean, if I want to summon a 6-cost card early in a match, I can simply play FS09-01 you know.
I have no clue how this deck will be remotely playable outside enjoying its specific synergy. It doesn't look good for the black color heading into SB01 to be fair, as FS09-01 is also struggling to compare to FS10-01 while no other leader got any support from this set.
Back to FB04-103 now that Satan City should not be too popular and no 25,000 leader got any form of support?
