Giblet Starter Deck Ex [FS10]: Guide, Card List, Upgrade

FS10-01's deck is full of very strong cards with various abilities. After some testing, the refined deck above is where I landed. Yet, I expect various lists to emerge, depending on the strategy one wants to pursue with this deck. Already, the fact there are multiple lists of FS10-01 being discussed is a sign of this leader's potential. Then, let's focus on the things this leader does very well, we can always nitpick about cards another time.

First, it is important to note FS10-01 wants to awaken, ideally on turn three, as to immediately be able to play a 4-cost card and start mounting some pressure. The pattern of playing FS10-16 to awaken, then use our leader ability to go up to 4 energy, and play either FS10-14 or FS10-08 is an absurd power play. With this in mind, we need to keep our opponent at bay early on, or we'll spend too many cards to defend ourselves once awakened. If we can do that, we'll force our opponent to play defense, and that is a tough task against FS10-01 and its arsenal of powerful cards.

The second key point is managing our energies. Here are the steps of a typical turn:

  • The turn starts with four energy available.
  • We play a 4-cost, FS10-08 most of the time. We remove two rested energies, get a usable one back. We are at 3 energy now, one can be used.
  • We use FS10-01's ability. We remove a rested energy, get two usable ones back. We are at 4 energy now, three can be used.

By the end of the turn, we had the opportunity to use seven energy, and most of our cards are very strong for their cost. When FS10-03 is the 3-cost at the end of the sequence above, we end the turn with a 35,000 FS10-08 and a FS10-03 sitting on the board with two cards drawn. Bonkers.

When there is a pressing threat on the board, you can add another energy to your total, play FS10-04 as a removal, and resume the game as if that threat never existed. In that scenario, we only get two energies to work with after we used our leader's ability. This is weaker in terms of development, but FS10-12, FS10-18 or 1-cost draw cards will do.

To top it all, the simple existence of FB08-119 means the opponent cannot try to race us to the finish line if they couldn't keep up on the board. If they do, they have to keep us at 3 health minimum, or they would give us the perfect finisher. In that case, feel free to use FS10-16 to remove that extra health.

FS10-15 isn't part of the deck, but might deserve to be a part of it just because of that equation. Indeed, whenever the opponent leaves us at 3 health to prevent FB08-119, we could use the 4-cost to go back up to 4, and exit the danger zone. Removing FS10-11 and another card to run three of FB08-119 plus two copies of FS10-15 would be a valid direction in my opinion.

The expansion where all the other decks get some support is about two weeks away, so the current metagame isn't the one FS10-01 needs to thrive in. Still, if this served as a trial run, the new green leader passed with flying colors.
