Syn Shenron and Piccolo managed to enter the competitive environment. So what about the other three leaders in FB07 ?

So far, the most talked about leaders for FB07 have been FB07-025 and FB07-049, as they were able to reach the top cut in both of the large tournaments held in Japan. However, the other three also have been working on their ideal list, and the first refined builds are starting to emerge.
Due to their lower power level at the moment, FB07-001, FB07-073 and FB07-097 had to build their list with the metagame in mind, looking to counter, or at least edge against the more popular picks.

In this last article rounding up deck lists before we get to a first Tier List for this new set, let's check out the remaining FB07 leaders, and their best build so far.

FB07-073 has an edge against SB01-001

The ability is a flight risk, but you don't really have a choice if you want to be explosive enough in this metagame. Then, FB07-073 needs to awaken early in the match and spend health in order to pressure its opponent, but would also enjoy not being under pressure constantly due to purposefully going down to three life.

At least, the yellow leader is quite good against SB01-001, a great trait in this metagame. In that match-up, FB07-073 can rest most early cards to get rid of them, an important part of slowing down the red deck.

Plus, most of the big cards we can summon through the leader ability are quite annoying for SB01-001, now a mostly aggressive build. FB02-140 is very difficult to deal with, while FB07-079 can mess one of their turns through the energy they will miss next turn.
Although an aggressive start from Cell can be annoying to deal with when working with 3 health only, FB07-073 seems to be able to disrupt and turn the pressure around well in that particular match-up.

Obviously, the yellow villain will suffer the comparison with SB01-029, arguably the competitive pick in the color. Yet, we can at least note the impact of FB07-093 and the other releases. If FB07-073 gets more support in the next Manga set, the deck could finally become a menace.

FB07-001 is your typical aggressive red deck

The evolve mechanic is a pretty cool one, but the fact the evolution comes in rested if we attacked with the evolved is a big limitation.
Then, while FB07-001 is able to develop large battle cards early in the match, or grow a threatening board through FB06-004 and FB07-017, it doesn't feel that different from previous aggressive red strategies. It is better at bringing the heat, but not that original overall.

Ideally, the deck wants to get FP-050 on board early on, as to remove small opposing cards, limiting their ability to combo or synergize. With the energy marker, we can summon FP-050 on turn two, perfect to then switch to FB06-004 and FB07-017 on turn three and four.
Outside that perfect world, FB07-001 tends to lack that explosive factor the top tier leaders possess, especially if it falls behind on the board early on.

FB07-097 is forced to adapt

During reveal season, the community was buzzing about how fast we would be able to summon FB07-122 and beat our opponent down with the first ever Triple Strike.
Unfortunately, while there are a few games when the draws align, FB07-097 seems to adopt a tempo, almost attrition based play style rather than an aggressive one.

First, FB06-097 has emerged to be a great target for our wish, allowing us to place any card into our opponent's drop. FB07-122 might be more aggressive, the ability to not trigger "When KO'd" abilities is huge against multiple high profile cards, such as SB01-039 or SB01-011. Plus, FB06-097 does not have a cost restriction, so we can also take care of FB07-121.

The other reason is the quality of the other cards in the deck. FB07-106, FB07-103, and FB07-101 are just great at constantly coming back to the board, or giving us 10,000 combo cards back in hand. Paired with FB07-104, the deck is able to recycle the same cards over and over, leading to that attrition type of play style, since we keep doing things while not using cards from our hand.

With a top 32 during the first tournament in Japan, alongside a more intricate game plan than most anticipated. I consider FB07-097 to be the best out of the leaders left out of the competitive environment. In expert hands, the deck should be able to compete, although it will be a much bigger challenge than just milling our deck and summoning FB07-122 as fast as possible.
