Just like for every set, new leaders are getting most of the attention. Yet, some old ones also got a bit of support with FB07. It might not make them competitive options when the time comes to pick our deck for a tournament, but it was enough to get some high ranked players curious.
Here is a first look at three of those improved leaders, which were spotted in the Master rank early in the season.
The Tournament of Power synergy is playable again.
FB07-008 isn't much, but at least guarantees the deck will never run out of steam. Indeed, a 1-cost through the leader ability, 30,000 Power attacker drawing us two cards is excellent in a midrange type of deck.
Then, while there are much stronger synergies in terms of raw power, the new 4-cost should be regarded as a way for the Tournament of Power to keep defensive leaders under pressure. With FB07-008 in the mix, the deck will keep attacking for 30,000 power, often multiples times per turn, and has enough cards in hand to push for 40,000 when aiming for the kill.
Obviously, this would be much, much stronger with four copies of FB02-013 available, but FB07-008 is a small win for the Tournament of power nonetheless.
King Gomah finally has a win condition.
It is crazy to think FB07-083 was not part of the same expansion as FB06-071, but the completely overlooked yellow leader finally has its boss monster. The deck also got other reinforcements in FB07-086, FB07-081and FB07-091, even if their impact still has to be precisely measured.
With those additions, FB06-071 finally is able to pressure its opponent. Indeed, FB07-083 summons FB06-076, that one brings back FB06-092 to attack a second time, and we have the leader ability on top to summon a 3-cost. Plus, this deck draws a ton so it is quite likely you will be able to reproduce that turn multiple times in a row.
In a sense, FB06-071 sort of looks like SB01-001 in the way it plays now.
Broly : BR brings even more heat.
FB06-048 got two new cards in FB07-060 and FB07-069, and it feels more than enough to call the green Goliath one of the most improved leaders in FB07.
Indeed, both new cards are perfect to support the only play style FB06-048 is interested in : bringing the heat.
FB07-060 is the key addition here, allowing the deck to do other things on top of summoning a 4-cost during the turn. The new 2-cost is particularly great alongside FB06-068, a card otherwise too expensive to run in the deck.
At the moment, it looks like the metagame has slowed down a bit, with FB07-049 able to keep the faster decks in check. In that context, FB06-048 could have a decent competitive shot, since that deck is as good as unstoppable once it gets going without fearing for its health.
