Core Synergies

The World Tournament deck is a fast-paced deck looking to do three things at the same time:

  • Keep a large hand in order to sustain its up-tempo play style and support FB06-025 awakened ability. FB06-029, SB01-017 or FB06-032 add cards to our hand while being threats for the opponent.
  • Remove opposing cards for cheap, or through battle cards ability, as to be able to bring pressure onto the opposing leader each and every turn without leaving any threat on the board. SB01-018 is a prime example, while SB01-021 or SB01-020 deal with the board for free once our leader is awakened.
  • Doing both of the above, the deck can focus on pressuring the opponent's life without being scared for his own. FB06-032 and FB06-119 are our main damage dealers late in a match. Yet FS02-15 and FB06-041 enable any card for an attack, while FB06-044 allows for energy cheats or simply turning a card into active mode for 2 energy.

A game with the World Tournament deck will have this deck build a gigantic lead in the first three to four turns. In that window, we have plenty of simple synergies allowing us to cheat energy, remove opposing early battle cards, and awaken ourselves heading into the late game.

Ideally, our turn four consists of using SB01-021 for free to remove the opposite 4-cost, while we play FB06-032 to hit our awakened opponent. Doing so, we grab the lead at the perfect time to control cards in hand and presence on the board.

To get there, we have two main synergies we can leverage in the early turns:

  • SB01-019 on turn one draws us two cards, while discounting SB01-017 for turn two.
  • FB06-027 plus FB06-044 will remove an opposite 1-cost, while we summon a 3-cost of our own. You can also use FB02-062 as the target, so SB01-018 bottoms a 3-cost card.

Once in the driver seat, navigate to the finish line, with FB06-119 able to grow to insane numbers, even with a relatively small hand.

Must Own and Replacements

FB06-033 is the card left out of the deck for lack of space, but represents a fine replacement if you miss some super rares. Obviously, the card won't be as good as SB01-018 or FB06-029, even when summoned through FB06-044, but it allows playing the deck until we can get those.

Other cards you can consider if you need to play on a budget are FB06-028 and FB06-035.

The more flexible part of the deck are the extra cards, which can be adapted depending on your play style and popular opponents. FB06-044 is the key one we need to run four copies of. The others are more flexible.

For example, SB01-021 is an answer to SB01-039 so we run four copies to make sure we find it on time. If you faced more of SB01-001, you could consider extra copies of SB01-020 to bottom all the cheap Android 18 cards the deck wants to synergize with.

Last, FB06-119 is the annoying part of this deck, as the card was clearly designed to be played in the World Tournament deck. You could use another double-striker until you get it, but the effectiveness will be widely different.

Competitive Chances

FB06 and SB01 gave this deck all the cards required to compete, but the results have yet to come. Even if we look at store tournaments in Japan for results, it is difficult to find a convincing performance about the World Tournament deck.

Then, I would recommend this leader to anyone enjoying the synergies it is built upon, and ready to spend enough time to learn all its intricacies. The pilot will play a big role in this deck's results.
